Testing the Configuration of MyLogin as the Identity Provide for Chrome OS devices / Google Workspace or Windows 11 devices / Microsoft 365

This guide shows you how to use MyLogin's built-in test users to quickly verify that your Single Sign-On (SSO) integration with Google or Microsoft is working correctly

In order to test your configuration of MyLogin as the Identity Provider we have enabled organisations to create test users in MyLogin. You can create one student test user and one teacher test user. You can then match these test users to test users in your Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra ID tenant to verify your deployment is working as expected.

Creating the Test User

  1.   Navigate to Users> Overview in your MyLogin dashboard and select 'Create Test User'Screenshot 2025-10-06 at 14.12.16.png
  2. Select either 'Student' or 'Teacher' user type Screenshot 2025-10-06 at 14.16.22.png
  3. You can choose to add a custom email. We would recommend aligning this with the email address of your test user in your Google or Microsoft workspace i.e. student.test@yourschooldomain.com Screenshot 2025-10-06 at 14.18.52.png
  4. Finally click 'Create Test User'

Matching Your Test User

Next, you need to match these newly created test users to existing, dedicated test accounts in your cloud environment, such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra ID.

  1. Navigate to Users > Overview
  2. Search for your test user
  3. Click on the user's name to open the user modal
  4. Select the 'Matching' tab

  5. Click on the 3 dots, and then 'Search for a match' to find the name of your test user in Google or Microsoft

  6. Select the appropriate test user to match to a click 'Match'
  7. If required, repeat the process for a Teacher Test User

Test the SSO Functionality

Once the users are matched, you can use the MyLogin credentials for these test accounts to verify your SSO setup.

  1. Download your chosen credential for the student and/or teacher test user
  2. Either turn on one of your devices that are federated with MyLogin and login using the downloaded credential. Check that the user is able to log in to the device.
  3. Alternatively, go to Google Workspace or Microsoft Entra ID and click log in, add the test user's email address. You should be redirected to app.mylogin.com to sign in. Enter the credentials your have downloaded. You should be returned to Google or Microsoft signed in as the test user.
  4. Repeat this for the teacher user, if required.

If both test users can successfully sign in, your IdP setup and user matching configuration are confirmed.
