MyLogin on iPads and Other Native Devices
MyLogin is a versatile platform designed to support a wide range of devices. However, its functionality on native devices like iPads, tablets, and phones differs slightly from what's possible on desktop-style devices like laptops and Chromebooks. This article will guide you through using MyLogin effectively on these platforms.
Logging In to Your Device
It's important to note that Apple's iOS does not offer the ability to use a third-party Identity Provider (IdP) to log in to the device itself. This is a limitation set by Apple and not by MyLogin. Therefore, you cannot use your MyLogin credentials to sign in directly to an iPad's operating system in the same way you can with a Google or Microsoft device.
Accessing Applications with MyLogin on Native Devices
While you can't log in to the device itself with MyLogin, you can still use it to access a variety of web and native applications:
- For Web Applications: You can use MyLogin's app dashboard in a browser on your iPad to launch and seamlessly log in to any integrated web application.
-
For Native Applications: You can also use MyLogin to sign in to native apps, such as Google Classroom. You can do this in two ways:
- Launch from Dashboard: Open your MyLogin dashboard in a browser and launch the app from there.
- Direct Login: Go directly to the app, click to log in, and when prompted for your email address, enter it. You will then be automatically redirected to MyLogin to complete your authentication.
'Saved Passwords' Applications
The 'Saved Passwords' feature, which auto-fills login credentials, is a function of our MyLogin browser extension. As native mobile devices like phones, tablets, and iPads do not support these types of browser extensions, this feature is not available on those platforms. This means that Saved Passwords applications will not function on these types of devices.
Recommended Best Practice for Shared Devices
For shared devices, such as iPads used in a classroom, we strongly recommend configuring the device to log out of the browser and delete all browsing data when the browser is closed or the device is locked. This ensures user data remains secure and prevents one user from accidentally accessing another's account.
